From atoms to bits and back
At the interface between the physical and informational worlds, this site
explores an abstract vision of interactive information technologies. Through
elaborated or brief opinions, essays, and as much interactive material as
possible, it intends to let the message of this site reify itself. As for the
state of this site, it is at the image of this article: incomplete, bound to

Doing this experience with an interactive media is quite an experience in
reification.
Convinced that the written word is far insufficient a media to convey
multiple layers of interpretations, denotation and connotations that together
create a meaning, hypetext can help. Interactive programs and dynamic graphics
do much more.
This site explores the process by which physical actions, energy level
changes in atoms get turned into bits and bytes of information, purely
immaterial yet all too real objects. For even though they are entirely
different, information objects are the closest thing we know to
describe which share those properties with human thoughts.
Since I was a kid, my fascination with the question "what do I think
with?" has prevailed in my studies and a good bit of my daily life.
On the site construction process
Despite its evolving nature, this site
is not a weblog: its content is not the result of day to day experiences, but
rather is the slow process of transcribing a wealth of written, oral and
multimedia material for a nice web experience. The project could have stood a
long way in the dark before popping out all nice and ready like Athena out of
Zeus' mind. Yet this would have precluded the sharing experience and benefiting
from reader's feedback all along. This is why I felt preferable to create this
permatnently "in construction" site and design it with evolutivity in mind. Its
look is far from polished yet, but my hope is that over the months to come, more
content, but also more interactive features and better page layout should enable
the current one hundred or so daily visitors to enjoy strong and opiniated
content on the wonders of the interface between the physical and informational
worlds.
